24 year old male patient (A) with Cluster Headaches, chronic insomnia and emotional turmoil

History and Symptoms

Referred by a Neurologist with symptoms such as Cluster Headaches, disturbed sleep and emotional turmoil. He had been forced to discontinue his higher studies leading to severe psychological issues.

Diagnosis

Enabled by above-average intelligence and knowledge, A was trying to self-diagnose his condition. As a result, he was experiencing psychological distress in the form of somatic symptoms.

Treatment

Integrated Acupuncture, Cognitive Restructuring Hypnotherapy Sessions, Moxibustion and Counselling.

Outcome

Satisfactory reduction in frequency and intensity of headaches, emotional turmoil and somatisation. A recovered sufficiently to enrol for higher studies in the UK.
